AKA how to show up looking like the main character (because you are)
You booked your brand shoot (cue confetti 🎉), and now the countdown is on. This isn’t just any shoot — this is the moment you claim your space, tell your story, and show the world what you’re building.
If the thought of “what now?” has you spiraling into outfit changes, Pinterest overdrive, and skincare panic… take a breath. I’m going to walk you through everything you need to feel grounded, prepared, and excited AF to show up and shine. Ready to go over how to prepare for your brand photoshoot?
Let’s make sure you’re not just camera-ready — but confidence-ready.
1. Know Your Vision
Before you choose outfits or props, ask yourself:
What do I want these photos to say about me and my brand?
Are you aiming for polished and professional? Approachable and fun? Earthy and creative? Edgy and bold?
Knowing your desired vibe will help shape everything — from location to lighting to your facial expressions.
✨ Pro tip: Create a 5–10 image vision board that reflects how you want to feel in your photos, not just how you want them to look.

2. Plan Your Outfits with Intention (Not Stress)
Choose 2–4 outfits that represent different facets of your brand personality. Think: one look that says “CEO mode,” one that says “let’s get creative,” and one that says “this is me on a Tuesday, doing what I love.”
Pick pieces that:
- Align with your brand colors or aesthetic
- Make you feel confident, not constricted
- Layer easily for visual variety
Try everything on, sit and move around in them, and make sure everything fits now (not when you thought you’d start that juice cleanse 🙃).
3. Prep Your Props
Props give your hands something to do and your audience a peek into your world. I’ve got a whole blog post right here to help you choose the right ones, but here’s the sparknotes version:
Bring things that represent:
- How you work (laptop, notebook, mic)
- What you create (product samples, packaging, sketches)
- Your client’s world (color swatches, crystals, skincare tools)
- Your personality (a matcha, a good book, your dog)
Lay everything out the day before so you’re not scrambling.

4. Location, Location, Vibe
Whether we’re shooting at your home office, a local studio, or a dreamy Airbnb — make sure the space matches your brand. I always help my clients choose the best spot based on their goals, so don’t stress if you’re unsure.
Bonus points for spaces with:
- Natural light
- Neutral backgrounds
- A mix of textures (wood, fabric, plants, etc.)
- Little pockets of character — we love a vibey corner
5. The Week Before: Self-Care Mode ON
Your energy matters. You don’t have to go full spa retreat, but caring for yourself beforehand will make you feel radiant and grounded.
Suggestions:
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
- Get a solid night’s sleep (or three)
- Skip the crash diets (trust me)
- Light movement or stretching the morning of
- Schedule a blowout, facial, or nails if that’s your thing
This is your time to feel good, not just look good.
6. Bring a Playlist, a Friend, or a Vibe
If the camera makes you nervous, let’s make it fun. Bring your favorite playlist (yes to Beyoncé, always), a friend to hype you up, or even a little essential oil you love.
The goal? To feel relaxed, at ease, and like your favorite version of yourself.

7. Trust Your Photographer (Hi, That’s Me 👋)
I’ve got you. I’ll direct, pose, prompt, and guide you through every step of the shoot. Your only job is to show up open, energized, and ready to create something magic.
You don’t need to know what to do. You just need to be you.
